While Kat’s Away, Ari Says Hi!

Ari at the computer

Hi! It’s me Ari, hopping on Kat’s computer while she’s gone. This is just the opportunity I’ve been waiting for! I’ve heard about Toby and Misty posting and I just knew I had a few things to say myself.

I guess I should start with an introduction and tell you a little bit about myself. My name is Ari and I’m 5 years old. I’m a little bit of everything- Shiba Inu, Jack Russell Terrier, fox, dingo, and a few other things. I’ve been told that my personality is quite like D.W.’s (Arthur the Aardvark’s annoying little sister). Hmph!

I’ve lived here since I was 9 months old, when I weighed no more than 11 lbs and my ears were bigger than my head. In addition to managing all kitchen operations, my jobs include:

taking everyone for walksAri on a walk

Deconstructing stuffed animalsAri

Stripping the bark from the fallen branches. Why? Well, if I don’t do it, no one will!! All I know is that this takes up a good part of my summer and fall months!IMG_4847crop

I love my three kids- Michael, Kris and Andrew. They are grown up now and Andy has been gone for a long time but I know he will come back. They always come back!

The thing is, no one told me that I would have additional responsibilities…….like LITTLE KIDS!!!!

CJ and I are a great team. (Us 5 year olds have to stick together!) We have tons of adventures together. We watch movies, run around outside playing, take walks and have sleepovers. He’s the easy one! The new baby, on the other hand, is a lot more work and these people need all the help they can get.

I have so much to tell you- from the big yellow vehicles that steal the children and neighborhood barking network to the daily threat we face at the hands of that guy that wanders around our neighborhood carrying highly suspicious envelopes. I’ll save those stories for another day.

It was nice meeting you!

There will be no Kat’s Got Your Tongue this week as Kat takes a few days off. The Challenge will return next Monday.

Fun Fact: Did you know that the little girl in the background of the Kat Got Your Tongue Challenge badge is actually Kat when she was small? She says she always loved cats but I know she’s really a dog person. She just didn’t know it until she found me!katgotyourtongue

  1. Hi Ari

Dad told me about you, so when he said that you had posted, I just had to read your post. My parents live in South Africa and I am a purebred Pug. My dad calls me Pooch in his blog and said I am not allowed to use my real name, as there are hooligans on the internet. I don’t know what hooligans are, but they cannot be nice if dad does not like them.

I have been with my parents for 10 years now and I am getting to be like dad – a little hard of hearing. But I watch dad pretending not to hear mom when she is moaning at him and now I pretend not to hear when they want me to do something I don’t want to do.

I sleep most of the day, eat, drink, bark a little at nothing so they think I am on watch, repeat cycle.

I am looking forward to reading more of your posts.

    1. Hi Pooch! Nice to meet you! Like everyone else in Kat’s blog (except Kris), Ari is not my real name but she calls me so many different things that I would probably answer to it anyway. My family thinks that I bark at nothing most of the time but they are just not aware of the dangers all around us. (Kat doesn’t like anyone to touch her computer but I’m sure I’m the one exception. )

    1. Thank you for stopping by! The cat picture is a favorite of mine, although I don’t remember the cat.

Nice to meet you, too! I look forward to visiting your blog and reading the inspiration for Hugh’s photo. 🙂

  2. This was fabulous Kat! I am so glad to meet Ari! Sugar and Spice say, “he’s a good looking guy!” They are happy that there is now a male dog for each of them! LOL… ❤

    1. Oops! I wasn’t clear. (Ari is short for Ariel.) See, I knew that I needed a more feminine look!! But to be totally honest, my papers do not list me as female- I’m listed as “S” whatever that means! Kat says she thinks it stands for spayed. ? Regardless, Toby is going to have his paws full with all us cuties around! Nice to meet you,, Sugar and Spice!

  3. Great to finally hear form you, Ari.

Us dogs need to start taking over this thing the humans call blogging and make WordPress change their name to BarkPress. My ears are still bigger than my head but that helps when the humans I live with open the fridge door. I’m there in a flash and they can’t resist those big brown eyes of mine looking up at them. Bits of chicken come my way and if I’m really lucky then the odd small bit of cheese as well.

    Keep writing.
    Lots of barks, Toby.

      1. They make great radars though, don’t you think? I can hear every single cupboard door in the human kitchen being opened from anywhere in the house. Mind you they don’t work very well when the humans say the words “bath” or “brush” to me. I pretend I don’t hear those words and play act at being fast asleep, so they leave me alone.

      2. I’m happy to hear that I’m not the only dog who has selective hearing. I can hear a squirrel turn the corner two blocks down but sometimes don’t catch when Kat tells me it’s time to get down from the foot of the recliner.
