51 Weeks: 51 Songs From the Past: Week 2: Barry Manilow- Weekend in New England

For week 2 of Hugh’s 51 Weeks: 51 Songs From the Past,  I am featuring Weekend in New England by Barry Manilow .

From Wikipedia-

“Barry Manilow (born Barry Alan Pincus; June 17, 1943) is an American singer-songwriter, arranger, musician, and producer with a career that has spanned over 50 years. He is best known for a long string of hit recordings such as “Mandy“, “Can’t Smile Without You“, and “Copacabana (At the Copa)“.

Weekend in New England was released in the US in 1976. I was 12 years old and the budding incurable romantic that I was destined to be was just beginning to bloom. It has been said that Manilow refers to this as the most romantic song in his catalog. This song was in the top ten of U.S. Billboard Top 100.

    1. Phew- thank goodness I didn’t beat you to the punch, Hugh! I am a piano lover so I always enjoy musicians that are heavy in piano. It’s one of the reasons I also loved the Carpenters. 🙂
