My first song for Hugh’s Views and News- 51 Weeks: 51 Songs From the Past is Alley Oop by The Hollywood Argyles. This song, first recorded in 1957, was inspired by the comic strip by the same name. It was later recorded by The Hollywood Argyles in 1960 and topped the charts at #1.

I was the introduced to the song when I was a child. It was one of the 45’s in my dad’s extensive record collection and it was a big hit with me and my siblings. You can only imagine the reception it received when I shared my discovery with my friends in the mid-70’s.
