“I mark the hours, every one, Nor have I yet outrun the Sun. My use and value, unto you, Are gauged by what you have to do.”—Inscription on Hermione Granger’s borrowed Time-Turner
If time feels like it’s passing quickly, it never feels more so than in November. I blame it on NaNoWriMo. This month just flies by and without dedication and perseverance, you don’t stand a chance of winning! I am on Day 6 here, which means that to be on track to complete on time, I need to have 10,002 words written by the end of the day. I am happy to report that I have been pleasantly surprised by my progress so far. While I still need to sit down and write today, I’m keeping up with my word count. I haven’t run out of story to tell yet. AND my characters are behaving. That is one of my biggest concerns during this time- that my characters will decide to do their own thing. In past years that has been known to happen. My partner in this competition who keeps me motivated and on track is my middle kiddo, Kris, who has also participated in Nano since the beginning. She reported to me last night that one of her characters was taking over the story and she was working to get the others in line with this emerging leading man!
I’m feeling optimistic and inspired this year. Since this hasn’t been the case in previous years, I’m taking it as a good sign. And if things go south, I guess I’ll have to figure out how to work my Time-Turner* necklace and buy myself more time.
It’s time for me to get working on that 10,002 goal for the day! Hope you’re able to complete your NaNo novels or other projects in a timely manner. If not, you might want to consider getting a Time-Turner of your own! (Contact Hermione and she’ll hook you up!)
This post is part of Sunday Stills- Time
Have a great day!

*Hermione Granger is a character in the Harry Potter books and movies. She uses the Time-Turner to attend more classes because there aren’t enough hours in one day for her to learn everything that she would like. How cool is that!
