10 Things I’m Doing to Nourish My Soul

Lately I’ve been feeling a little ragged around the edges and in need of something. It would be easy to blame it on the pandemic. No one would blame me, right? But as we have all found out in the last eleven months or so, life doesn’t stop just because people are dying.

With my anxiety running rampant, my sleep disturbed, and my thoughts wandering all over, I decided that I needed to mellow out and engage in some nourishing of my body and soul.

Here’s what I’ve been doing-

  • Enjoying the peacefulness of watching it snow from the warmth and coziness of my house
  • Keeping warm with a nice cup of tea
  • Taking the advice written on my mug and remembering to breathe
  • Perfecting my granny squares
  • Working on my ideas for blog posts
  • Choosing the perfect book to read next
  • Re-binge watching my all time comfort show- Grey’s Anatomy
  • Having a good cry or two or three or with every episode involving my favorite interns at Seattle Grace Hospital- I forgot how cathartic crying can be!
  • Listening to my Beatles playlist
  • Sitting in complete silence and letting my thoughts go where they need to go and do what they need to do

Have a good one!

Perfect Day for Ari

Ari loves her kids, both big and small. She continues to be a conscientious caretaker, when she wants to be. And no one is more committed to ending horseplay or encouraging horseplay than she is and she will let us know it. In so many ways she is still the energetic loving pup she was when she first came to us over eight years ago. But she is getting older, as much as she refuses to admit it. Who of us wants to admit to getting older, right? In dog years she is older than I am so she must be feeling some aches and pains from time to time, especially trying to keep up with two energetic boys!

But if the truth be told, Ari’s favorite state of mind is snoozing while she basks in the sun. She especially searches out those sun spots as days get cooler. And once she has located a cozy place in the sun, it’s only a matter of time before she drifts off to sleep.

When I saw the Ragtag Daily Prompt- Bask, the photo above came to mind immediately. And then Fandango’s One Word Challenge- Snooze appeared in my feed and that sealed the deal. I dug the photo out of the archives.

And let’s face it- isn’t Saturday the perfect day to bask and snooze?
