The fog comes

photo a day bare branches fog

“The fog comes on little cat feet.” -Carl Sandburg

I have always loved the poem by Carl Sandburg. It’s the first line that drew me to it. The first time I heard it was as a variation of that line in the title of the book- The Fog Comes on Little Pig Feet by Rosemary Wells. I read this book as a teenager and loved it. If you’re not familiar with the book, it’s about a thirteen year old girl who is sent to a boarding school against her wishes and manages to get into a lot of trouble. It was published in 1973 so it’s your garden variety 70’s kind of teen trouble.Ā The title stuck with me and one year I incorporated the Sandburg poem into my NaNoWriMo novel. It was only natural that with prompt being “fog” that this book would come to mind!
