The Textures of Autumn….

well, Autumn/Halloween decorations, that is. Autumn colors are temporarily delayed due to our wacky weather. Leaves are confused, as are small children who like to wear shorts every day and don’t like their clothing options to vary greatly, as they have had to do to satisfy our up and down weather.

While I had hoped to have some cool textures of outside Autumn wonders, I have to settle for my indoor decorations this week!

scarecrow
My small scarecrow friend has many textures to share from his hat and clothes to straw hands and feet and the leaves.

softball scarecrow
This guy has been one of my staple fall decorations for years. He is a nice combination of textures with his straw hat/hair and the stitching on his face, as well as the fabric of his neckerchief.

scarecrow flowers
This scarecrow is the new kid in town and while he waits to be incorporated into some crafty decoration, he’s here to share as many textures as he can!

green skull
Finally, my spooky skull is my nod to Halloween. His lovely appearance not only looks cool, it’s pretty neat to touch, too!

Thanks for stopping in this week’s Sunday Stills- Texture!

Autumn Colors

pumpkin farmAutumn is my favorite time of year. I live for the days of leaves changing colors, hoodies and jeans, and crisp leaves rustling as they blow down the street. It’s the most beautiful time of the year. Here are some autumn quotes along with photos of my favorite fall colors:

  • “Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower.” -Albert Camus
  • “Fall has always been my favorite season. The time when everything bursts with its last beauty, as if nature had been saving up all year for the grand finale.”
    —Lauren DeStefano
  • “Autumn, the year’s last, loveliest smile.” -William Cullen Bryant
  • “Love the trees until their leaves fall off, then encourage them to try again next year.” –Chad Sugg

  • “Every leaf speaks bliss to me, fluttering from the autumn tree.” -Emily Bronte
  • “Wild is the music of autumnal winds amongst the faded woods.” —William Wordsworth
  • “Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall.” –F. Scott Fitzgerald
  • “I’m so glad to live in a world where there are Octobers.” -Anne of Green Gables, L.M. Montgomery

If you live in a part of the world that has glorious autumns, I hope you are enjoying the changing colors! And if you aren’t, I hope that whenever your autumn is, you get to experience this beauty!
