S is for Silly Love Songs

Today’s post will be short and sweet (since it’s a day late). For some reason, every time I tried to think of something to write about for the letter “S”, this song popped into my head so here it is!

Silly Love Songs by Wings

This song was written by former Beatle, Paul McCartney, and it was released in 1976. It is said that he wrote it in response to critics stating that his songs were sappy silly love songs. This song, as well as some of his others, is charged with being fluff with no real meat to it. That’s probably true but it is a sweet song, all the same.

I like this song. I always have. It has a good bass line and the brass is having fun. The lyrics are simple and I love singing it. When I hear the clunky beginning, it always makes me smile. I’m an incurable romantic and a sucker for a sappy silly love song.

So what do you think? Is this a silly song? Does Paul write these too often? Does it matter?

Kat’s side note- While I have always liked this song, my favorite love songs are John Lennon’s. (just had to say….for the record…being me and all)
