Share Your World- 2015 Week #8

This post is in response to Cee’s Share Your World Challenge.

Your favorite blog post that you have written? (add link)

This was a tough one. I would hope that I liked all of my posts, right? Finally, I narrowed it down to these two- The first is My Firstborn, My Hero– a post I wrote 2 months ago about my oldest child, Michael, who has had a very productive last few months. Share Your World- MichaelSometimes I feel like it takes a lot of work to come up with a good post that feels right and other times the words just flow. This was one of the easy ones. 🙂

The post that tied with Michael’s post as a favorite was one that I wrote recently called Words Don’t Come Easy. Unlike the first post, this one was painful to write. It ate at me until I wrote it and when it was done, after feeling like every single word was being ripped from deep inside me, I published it and didn’t look back. I read it earlier today for the first time since posting it and it hurt to read it. I felt this twitchy urge to take it down and hide it away from anyone’s eyes, including my own. And it is for that reason that I’m including it today. This is me shoving myself out of my comfort zone.

What do you feel is the most enjoyable way to spend $500? Why?

There is so much I could do with $500!!! Where would I even begin? If I had to spend it on myself, I would head to the coolest antique place I could find and I would shop until I dropped, looking for midcentury (bargained priced)  treasures. My husband would be along for the fun. Too many times we have been wandering around antique malls only to discover that we both fell in love with the same clock or chair or other random piece. If I was required to spread the love (and the $$), I would give it to my parents. They need it more than I do. It’s that simple.

If you could know the answer to any question, besides “What is the meaning of life?”, what would it be?

I believe that everything happens for a reason. My question would be- “Does it really….or is everything just a big scrambled up mess of random?”

Where do you eat breakfast?

I eat in front of my computer. It’s my routine for as long as I can remember. I read my e-mail, check Facebook, catch up on life…

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am grateful for the craziness of my family. Let me describe a few moments from yesterday afternoon. Michael and Jasmine came to pick up CJ and baby Beej, whom we had been baby-sitting. CJ was flying around the house in dragon wings, with Ari barking behind him. Beej and Daddy

Mr. K was puttering on the back porch, enlisting CJ’s help when he landed long enough to hear his grandfather speak. Beej was trying to focus on his big brother and quickly was distracted by the arrival of his daddy. Michael (aka Daddy) was trying to talk in code words over the flying dragon and barking dog and cooing baby that those wings were NOT coming home. Uncle Kris was explaining in his quiet voice that he had already explained that to little CJ. Jasmine and I just exchanged looks and laughed at all of it, pretty sure that no one was paying attention to what the other was saying. The only person missing was my youngest, Andrew. If I’m lucky, I will have many more chaotic times surrounded by these nutty people I call my family.

Thank you, Cee! I’ve enjoyed participating in the Share Your World Challenge!
