Earlier this week I shared the first five of my favorite Christmas songs at Just Hear Those Sleigh Bells… I’m continuing with my final five favorites, once again in no specific order-
Wonderful Christmas Time- Paul McCartney– Happy Xmas (War is Over)- John Lennon and Yoko Ono- Originally I had the Paul McCartney song in this spot but when I looked for a video, the first one I watched seemed to just be filled with Paul’s ego. I think that McCartney is an incredibly talented musician but after watching hours of videos and reading countless accounts over the years, I find his personality to be a bit too much for me and that detracts from my enjoyment of his music at times. In the case of this song, I couldn’t overlook it. So in it’s place, I’m giving you a song I actually prefer and it seems fitting that it is by John Lennon.- Merry Christmas Darling– The Carpenters This is the Christmas song of my teenage years. It takes me back to my angsty totally crushing for the bad boy days.
- Christmas Eve/Sarajevo– Trans-Siberian Orchestra Having 3 musician children I would be remiss if I did not include one instrumental song. This one is the leader of the pack. It’s so moving and powerful. And I can’t resist the appeal of the strong piano and percussion components.
-
Happy Holidays/White Christmas– Barry Manilow I’m a Barry Manilow fan. I admit it. I hope you won’t hold it against me. Then again, if you’ve been paying attention to my taste in music, it doesn’t come as a surprise to you, right? My Barry Manilow Christmas CDs are some of my favorites. What can I say? I love him!

The Christmas Song– Nat King Cole This song transports me to my childhood and instantly makes me feel all Christmas-y. Like Sleigh Ride, it’s a song that has always been part of my Christmas season. It’s a classic and I love it.
And so ends my favorite Christmas songs. Which songs are “must listen to” songs for you?
