Today Kris and I went on a trek to Bachelor’s Grove Cemetery. It has the reputation of being one of the most haunted places in the Chicagoland area. It is a half hour drive from the city. It is said to be the site of countless ghostly hauntings and happenings over the years. Rumors report that it was a dumping ground for the mob in the 1920’s and 1930’s although there is no evidence to support this. There have been numerous sightings of floating orbs of light and near collisions with phantom vehicles.
Anyone who lives in the Chicago area and is interested in ghosts and haunted places has heard about Bachelor’s Grove. It took me awhile to take the time to locate it and give it a visit. Since finding it, I have visited this cemetery a few times over the past few years. During this visit, while nothing eventful seemed to have happened while we were there, I did notice that some of the headstones and grave markers had been moved since my last visit, about a year ago. One example is shown in the photo with the headstone sitting on the path by the entrance of the cemetery. Apparently this is a common occurrence and has nothing to do with spirits in the least. There seems to be no shortage in people looking to get into trouble and an abandoned graveyard is the perfect location.
When we got home and I pulled up the pictures on my laptop, I was surprised to find that some showed what could be described as orbs. I can honestly say that I didn’t see anything at the time. See the shiny dots that are in each picture? Do I think they are spiritual orbs? I’m not sure what they are. I can honestly say that there was nothing on the ground to cause these reflections (especially the ones that are in the shadows where the sunlight was blocked) and I can honestly say that it wasn’t my phone because I took over 100 pictures and they appeared on approximately 10. I’ve had strange things show up in photos on other occasions but none like this- and none that were consistently the same thing.
Last of all, I do believe in other beings, be they ghosts, angels, spirits….. something is out there. Was it hanging around Bachelor’s Grove today? I can’t say. What do you think? Do you believe in ghosts?
